Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
At St. Monica's the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) seeks to address the faith development needs of the following four groups:
- Unbaptized adults who desire to become members of the Church through baptism
- Adults of other Christian denominations who desire to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church
- Baptized adult Catholics who seek to complete their sacramental initiation through the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist
- Adult Catholics seeking a deeper knowledge of the basic tenets and practices of the Catholic faith.
In recent years, there has been an increasing number of candidates coming to complete their initiation in order to be married in the Church.
The group gathers weekly from September to early May. The meetings include an opening prayer, teaching (by team member, guest speaker, or a video), discussion, coffee break and a closing prayer inspired by the Gospel of the following Sunday liturgy. Candidates participate in the liturgical life of the parish, especially Sunday Eucharist.
If you desire to renew your faith, complete your Sacramental Initiation, enter into Full Communion with the Catholic Church, or to know more about our faith, please contact Glenda Cadogan through the parish office for information about our program.
