Through this Holy Anointing

 - October 1, 2014

At our Masses this weekend, we highlight a beautiful sign of the Lord’s healing power: the sacrament of the anointing of the sick. Here at St. Monica’s, we have a significant number of seniors and other homebound individuals who are ministered to by their fellow parishioners. Many of them have made a special effort to be here this weekend, and we are pleased to welcome them. They belong to us and are tremendous intercessors on behalf of the many needs of the parish. We ask them to keep praying for all of us, and know that we carry them We are also grateful for the many pastoral home care volunteers who share so generously of their time and compassion. They bring comfort and friendship, prayer and the Lord’s presence in the Eucharist to literally hundreds of people, whether at home or in institutional care. We are grateful for the witness they offer and the solidarity they offer. I especially thank our new pastoral home care coordinator, Anne Robertson, as well as Audrey Booth, Evelyn Raphael, Sr. Beverley, and Deacon Dennis, for their ongoing mentoring and support to our volunteers. If you feel called to become involved in this outreach ministry, please let one of the team know!
