Over a thirty-six hour period in Los Angeles, the lives of a handful of desperate people intertwine as they deal with the racial and economic tensions that characterize life in the city. A White district attorney uses race as a political card; two Black carjackers use their race both to their advantage and as an excuse; an Hispanic locksmith and his little girl face an angry and armed Iranian immigrant; a Black TV director and his wife, victim of sexual abuse, struggle with the White Hollywood establishment; a couple of Korean immigrants profit from human trafficking.
